Summary: Spike and two takes on endings.
Notes: Two 100-word drabbles written for the Open on Sunday Challenge #61 ‘Endings’.

When Angelus left them Spike had ached, but had stayed strong to console Dru, who was devastated.

Nearly one hundred years later Dru left, and his desolation had been nearly complete. His ripe wicked plum had found him lacking, and thrown him over for a bloody chaos demon.

Now Buffy was gone, and that loss hurt most of all. How could the death of a small human girl he’d known for only a handful of years cause more pain than the loss of Angelus? Than the loss of his sire?

He’d contemplate that while waiting for the sun to rise.

Endings.

He’d thought his life was over when Cecily devastated him, but it had actually ended when Dru found him.

Then had begun the greatest experience of his existence to-date. He hadn’t lied when he told Buffy that becoming a vampire had been a profound and powerful experience.

More endings, when Angelus left them, when Dru left him, and then when Buffy died, leaving them all.

He glanced over at Xander as the boy helped Dawn with her homework. Xander must have felt his eyes, and glanced up, smiling shyly.

The thing about endings was they brought you new beginnings.
